Sustainability Report 2023

Central Puerto is proud to present its sixth Sustainability Report, which highlights the most significant advancements made in 2023 on the path towards sustainable development. This report, prepared under the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the guidelines of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), reflects the company’s economic, social, and environmental impact, as well as its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Key milestones of 2023:

1. Generation and operational efficiency

  • Central Puerto achieved a total generation of 20,774 TWh, representing 15% of the national system’s generation.
  • En la Central Hidroeléctrica Piedra del Águila, la favorable hidraulicidad de los ríos permitió aumentar la generación un 58% respecto a 2022.

2. Portfolio expansion

  • With the acquisition of Central Costanera, 1,789 MW of installed capacity were added.
  • 88,000 hectares were added with the acquisition of EVASA, reaching a total of 160,000 hectares, of which 57% are pine and eucalyptus plantations, and 36% are high conservation value areas.

3. Strategic financing

  • The company issued Class A Negotiable Bonds to finance its working capital needs.
  • Additionally, Class B Negotiable Bonds were issued for a partial prepayment of the syndicated loan subscribed with Citibank NA, JP Morgan Chase Bank NA, and Morgan Stanley Senior Funding Inc. This payment allowed the lifting of the restriction on dividend payments.

4. Renewable energy and new developments

  • Progress was made on solar projects in San Juan (300 MW), Córdoba (50 MW), and San Carlos, Salta (15 MW), as well as wind projects in Córdoba, San Luis, and Buenos Aires totaling 850 MW.
  • The construction of the combined cycle closure at the Brigadier López Power Plant in Santa Fe began; it will have a capacity of 432 MW, enough to supply more than 300,000 homes.
