CENTRAL PUERTO ACQUIRES EVASA

Buenos Aires, May 3, 2023.

Central Puerto, the largest producer of electrical energy nationwide, acquired the forestry company EVASA (belonging to a Harvard University investment fund) that manages three companies: Empresas Verdes Argentina, Las Misiones and Estancia Celina. All geographically located in the center of the province of Corrientes.

“This acquisition represents a great milestone for us and our forestry development strategy, which we believe is key to Argentina’s growth potential. This sector can be a source of future business opportunities, linked to the processing and industrialization of wood, carbon credits and energy generation with biomass,” stated Fernando Bonnet, general manager of Central Puerto.

Central Puerto is a company with national capital. Based on the impetus of its main shareholders – Guillermo Reca, the Miguens-Bemberg family and Eduardo Escassany – it reinforces the diversification of its businesses and continues to expand in the forestry sector. Due to the previous acquisition of Masisa’s forestry assets in Argentina, Central Puerto becomes the main Argentine company in the forestry sector with more than 160,000 hectares.

Argentina has one of the highest growth rates not only in the region, but in the world: trees grow approximately ten times faster than in the northern hemisphere. That is why the forestry sector in which Central Puerto continues to expand provides one of the businesses with the greatest competitive advantages and greatest growth potential as a generator of foreign currency in Argentina.
